ThermoKeeper® Chilled Wine Shipper
ThermoKeeper® Chilled Wine Shipper is a “green,” temperature-controlled, shipping carton that is bio-degradable. The inner surface of the insulated liner is perforated to allow for the absorption of unwanted condensation or accidental spills.
Sandwiched between the biodegradable films, and sealed on all sides, is a proprietary, organic pad, made from recycled, purified, flocked textiles.
While there are literally hundreds of wine shippers on the market, virtually all of them are made of foam for protective packaging purposes; none, cost effectively, address the equally critical purpose of temperature-control.
Because of this, there are certain times of the year, generally June to October, that vineyards, and other such as importers, exporters and online sales companies, who ship wine cannot or do not ship especially red wines, because of extreme heat.
Heat can:
1) cause the product to cook, affecting taste;
2) pop corks, causing leakage or;
3) turn wine to vinegar, and more.
Generally made of foam, current shippers are not biodegradable, and therefore, not environmentally friendly or socially responsible. Our recyclable, compostable, reusable and biodegradable products provides both temperature and breakage protections because we use recycled fibers for the insulation we provide which adds a cost effective element the others just don’t.
Our tests have demonstrated that we can maintain an ideal temperature range for wine between 60oF and 70oF for the duration of normal shipping times, even on the hottest summer days. This is accomplished through the incorporation of two of our unique technologies; our fiber cushioning and insulating materials; and our innovative phase-change refrigerant technology.
We recommend a 275 lb test corrugated paper outer box, with one and one half inches of padding on all six sides of the container. Then a corrugated 275lb. paper insert and divider is added to separate the bottles from each other. Finally, the refrigerant pack(s) are placed in the center opening.
Our Chilled Wine Shipper may also have a handle (upon request, and at additional charge) on the top of the container for the end user’s carry-out convenience.
We find that most of our clients prefer “green” products, but often resist because environmentally friendly often means prohibitively expensive or compromises in performance.
